Okay, you will have to open them up. But with some care, you should be able to do it without damaging them. There are little anchor points for the covers that are in different locations depending on age. The oldest versions just have 2, on each corner, under the cover. You can see them on the bottom of the chassis. Newer ones have them coming up from the chassis and out the top side of the motor cover. Use a small razor to trim the tips before removing, so as not to break them. Be very careful with the U shaped clips. Do not break these. Once you have the cover off, lift the motor slightly and remove the gears. Check the wire connection on the under side of the motor. If the wire is attatched, push the motor back down, making sure to get the switch positioned right. With the motor in, but without the gears, install a battery and turn it on. With power applied to the motor, manually spin the shaft. I have had to spin some for up to a minute to revive them. Once it spins on its own, let is sit and run for a few minutes. You'll hear it slowly pick up speed. Remove the battery, raise the motor slightly and re-install gears. Make sure to line up the anchor pins when putting the cover back on for best fit. You should be off and running. I can bust one out in about 5 minutes now, but take your time starting out and do not force any pieces. Feel free to email me with any questions. If these steps do not lead to positive results, emails me and we'll figure it out. Sometimes the motors DO burn out. Enjoy!~
